The Story – Facing the issue of rising screen time in her child, Mrs. Shilpa figured out the right means of engagement that helped her engage her son and take him away from screens.
Mrs. Shilpa from Maharashtra was lately seeing an increase in her son Reyansh’s screen time.
Reyansh who was just 5 years old “was spending too much time on computer and smartphones.”
In today’s gadget-centric lifestyle, it’s often just a matter of time before children start spending time with these smart screens.
The Challenge – Mrs. Shilpa was having a hard time “distracting him from tv/mobile/computer”.
As she explains, “(I) really didn’t know how to engage him for long” so that he’d stay off screens.
To add to her woes, “he was hyperactive and it was difficult to make him sit in one place.”
Unlike in many cases where screen time is brushed aside stating or even boasting all the good aspects, Mrs. Shilpa wanted to put an end to it and furthermore engage Reyansh in a meaningful way.
She started searching for a means of engagement to help her out.
The Turning Point – Mrs. Shilpa came across Flintobox and decided to give it a try.
To Mrs. Shilpa’s excitement, Reyansh “was sitting in one place for long” without having to pull strings.
As she explains, “he is after me every time, ‘Mumma let’s do activity’.”
The Result – “It has really helped me distract him from computer/phones to a certain extent.”
With the activities, Reyansh started to “spend quite a lot of time in one place” and moreover “his patience level had increased.”
Activities like those in Colour Scientist “made him realize that mixing two different colours gives new color,” and got him “excited to learn new things.”
As a result, “his hyperactiveness has reduced to an extent,” explains Mrs. Shilpa.
To further add to our joys, Mrs. Shilpa explains, “I really appreciate the things you provide with each and every box like the mat, apron, brush etc.”
Asked if she’d recommend Flintobox, she replies, “Sure. In fact I’ve already recommended to many. It’s a great way to immerse your kid in activities with fun and learning.”

Our generation experienced a childhood without mobile phones and gadgets. But children today are exposed to technology from a very young age. There are both positives and negatives to this.
And it will be great if a balance is struck where children experience the best of both worlds.
If children are spending a good amount of time in front of TV and mobile phones, there are 2 ways to handle it.
Option 1: Restrict the time children spend on TV and mobile phones.
Option 2: Provide healthier alternatives to TV and mobile phones that are attractive to children.
Flintobox is an effort in the direction of the second option. A bunch of activities are carefully selected and designed to educate children on new things every month and in the process, create a fun environment for them. The fun element helps children stay away and control the time they spend in front of screens.
If you would like to provide a healthier alternative to TV and mobile phones, give Flintobox a try!
